Islam doesn’t just subjugate Muslm women. By teaching Muslim men to subjugate women, it teaches Muslim men to subjugate everyone. They can’t take being talked back to.
That is why the Persians had the painting of women being hung by their tongues. (This was on Irshad Manji’s program in the PBS America at a Crossroads series.) Islam teaches spouse abuse, child abuse, and abuse of the powerless. By teaching abuse of women by men as their right and duty, Islam teaches men to be offended and to punish those who offend them.
