“NEW DATA SHOW EXTRAORDINARY JUMP IN INCOME CONCENTRATION IN 2004″ By Aviva Aron-Dine and Isaac Shapiro for a graph of income share of top 1 percent from 1913 to 2004.

Income Inequality U Shape Timeline

7 of the top 8 wealthiest Senators voted for S. 2611, amnesty, affirmative action, non-deportable crime, and a pathway for the top 1 percent of households to continue to enjoy 20 percent of each year’s income, compared to 10 percent before Kennedy’s 1965 Immigration Act. The only 1 of the top 8 who didn’t vote for S. 2611 didn’t vote, Jay Rockefeller. McCain is 7th and Kennedy 8th in wealth.

Immigration doesn’t help the middle class. Men’s median wages are lower than in 1973.

Income, Poverty, and
Health Insurance Coverage in
the United States: 2005

US Census Report on wages By
Carmen DeNavas-Walt
Bernadette D. Proctor
Cheryl Hill Lee

Graph page 18 shows men’s median wages peaked in 1973, they are lower now. Women’s median wages are lower than men’s, which means they are lower than men earned in 1973. Black median wages are lower than all men, which means black wages are lower than what all men made in 1973.

1973 is 35 years ago. When they push immigration after the US government reports wages are stagnant for 35 years it shows they are voting their stock portfolio.

Immigration keeps wages to the 1973 level. That boosts up stock prices, because productivity has gone up since 1973. So the money is going to profits which pushes up stock prices. The leading Senators pushing immigration, McCain and Kennedy are worth 10’s of millions of dollars. They are i the top 1 percent that get 20 percent of the income.

The top 1 percent got 20 percent of income before the 1920’s restriction, 10 percent after, and now get 20 percent with 1965 legal immigration. Kennedy pushed that act and he is now wealthier because his stocks went up.

==

Senate trades our prosperity and economic security so that they get 20 dollars of every 100 dollars we create at work instead of the 10 dollars they got before the 1965 Immigration Act.

Worker Productivity Graph and info

Productivity never stopped growing, except possibly during some recessions or odd years from 1947 to present.

1947 to 1973 worker productivity up 2.7 percent per year.

1973 to early 1990’s 1.4 percent per year

1995 to 2004 2.9 percent per year increase in worker productivity.

Yet men’s median wages are lower than in 1973, and the other groups, women, blacks, etc. are lower than all men in 1973.

The workers became more productive, but wages stayed at or below the level of men in 1973.

What changed is that the top 1 percent get 20 percent of every 100 dollars we make now but only got 10 dollars per every 100 before the 1965 Immigration Act.

Lower wages, shorter lifetimes data

“Mortality, Education, Income, and Inequality among American Cohorts”

Angus Deaton
Christina Paxson

“People whose family income was less than $5,000 in 1980 could expect to live about 25 percent fewer years than people whose family income was greater than $50,000.”
===

Did immigration cause productivity to go up? No. Productivity was going up from 1947 onwards. If you draw a straight line from 1947 to 2004 its close to the graph anyhow.

The slowdown in productivity growth started in 1973, 8 years after the 1965 Immigration Act.

“The consensus among most economists is that there is no one factor that accounts for that productivity slowdown, but rather that it was the result of a series of different influences that each made a modest contribution and happened to occur at about the same time.”

“Among the factors that are likely to have played some role are increased safety and environmental regulation, reduced investment in productive equipment, and demographic changes , along with a number of other developments.”

Demographic changes is code words for immigration. They are not even allowed to say it.

From:

Productivity Graph and analysis

So we had 2.7 percent productivity growth before immigration. Immigration brought down productivity growth, it didn’t increase it. Moreover, before the 1965 Immigration Act, wages went up with productivity. We got all our increased productivity. That’s our work. After the 1965 Immigration Act, the rich Senator’s got our productivity increases in their stock portfolio.

Men’s median wages stopped growing completely in 1973. Zero growth in wages while productivity goes up substantially shows that markets are undercutting workers.

The income inequality graph proves this as well. The top 1 percent got 20 percent before immigration restriction in the 1920’s, they got 10 percent during restriction up to the 1965 Immigration Act, and now they are back to 20 percent. This shows its immigration that is driving this redistribution from those who create income to those who control income distribution by controlling immigration. Wealth inequality has become even worse than income inequality.

==Black male labor participation rate fell –into prison

Men’s median wages are flat since 1973, see graph page 18:

http://www.census.gov/prod/2006pubs/p60-231.pdf

Labor force participation rates of men (especially black men) have fallen since 1984:

http://www.bls.gov/emp/emplab05.htm

and even from 1965 (requires excel, but you can get a viewer for free)

a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/15feb20061000/www.gpoaccess.gov/eop/2006/B40.xls

Black men have fallen from about 80 percent in 1965 to 66 percent in 2005, and are projected to fall further by 2014 because of continued legal immigration and illegal immigration and amnesty.

Young Black men in prison age 18-24 was about 10 percent

http://www.globalblacknews.com/Jail.html

If we take the change from 1965 at 80 percent of black men in the labor force to 66 percent in 2005, the difference of 14 percent explains the 10 percent in prison. Of those out of the work force, 14 percent, about 2/3, are in prison. The drop in the labor force came before the rise in the prison population, so its drop in labor force that causes the rise in the prison population not vice versa.

So legal and illegal immigration following the 1965 Immigration Act and the 1986 amnesty is causing black men to switch from being in the labor force to being in prison.

The Bush Kennedy amnesty will maintain and increase this process.

Black men in 1965 had a labor participation rate of 79.6 and white men of 80.8. This was all men 16 and over. In 2004, the Hispanic men rate was 80.4. But white men were at 74.1, Asian men at 74.4 and black men at 66.7. Other race groups were 74.0. What has happened is that Hispanic men in 2004 were at the level of participation rates of all men, black and white and presumably others in 1965.

The 1965 Immigration Act brought down all other men, for a temporary rise for Hispanic men. However, the BLS is projecting that from 2004 to 2014, even Hispanic men will fall from 80.4 to 78.6, lower than black and white men in 1965. This is because of legal immigration and amnesty. The lower employment for Hispanic men, 16 and over, means an increase in gangs and gang violence. Hispanics born here likely have labor participation rates between those of whites and blacks, so we can guess those are around 75 or so. The reason that Hispanic employment is projected to fall is that Hispanics born here or who come here as children have the lower male employment rates that whites, blacks, and Asian men have. For young males, the labor participation rates are even lower.

What we are going to get from this act is a huge upward spike in gang membership and violence.

Following reposted from previous page for easy reference:

The US government BLS projects that labor participation rates of white men, black men, Asian men and Hispanic men will all fall from 2004 to 2014. Scroll down:

http://www.bls.gov/emp/emplab05.htm

This is because of legal immigration and amnesty and failure to enforce immigration laws.

2004 2014 Projected

White Men 74.1 to 72.7

Black Men 66.7 to 64.7

Asian Men 75.0 to 74.4

Hispanic Men 80.4 to 78.6

This is men 16 and over.

The BLS is telling us we are going to get a huge gang warfare time period throughout the US from now until 2014. After that it will get worse.

Income inequality timeline 1913 to 2004. The top 1 percent got over 20 percent of each year’s national income before immigration restriction in the 1920’s cut in. Then it fell to 10 percent during immigration restriction. Now its over 20 percent and headed up.

http://www.cbpp.org/7-10-06inc.htm

At the time of the 1965 Immigration Act, the top 1 percent share was headed down and momentum took it down to 9 percent afterwards before it turned back up.

Senators ranked by wealth:

http://www.opensecrets.org/pfds/overview.asp?type=W&cycle=2005&filter=S

7 of the top 8 Senators by wealth including Kennedy (8th) and McCain (7th) voted for S. 2611 last year’s amnesty and expanded guest worker and legal immigration bill.

The votes for S 2611:

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=2&vote=00157

These are not ordered by wealth of the Senator, but you can match them up.

Productivity has gone up from 1947 to present.

http://www.econbrowser.com/archives/2005/08/the_underreport.html

But men’s median wages are flat since 1973:

http://www.census.gov/prod/2006pubs/p60-231.pdf

Harold Meyerson at WaPo

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/29/AR2006082901042.html

Quotes from WaPo:

“From 1947 through 1973, American productivity rose by a whopping 104 percent, and median family income rose by the very same 104 percent.”

“Since 1973 productivity gains have outpaced median family income by 3 to 1.”

“In ways more difficult to quantify, the mass prosperity fostered a generosity of spirit: The civil rights revolution and the Marshall Plan both emanated from an America in which most people were imbued with a sense of economic security.”

Where has the productivity gains gone? Into profits not wages. That has driven stock prices up to very high levels. The Senators have huge stock portfolios. The open secrets link above shows they have tens of millions to hundreds of millions in stock and other assets. They have voted for immigration to drive down wages to drive up profits and their own stock portfolios.

If click to other posts at my name, I have extensive links to data on black and male labor participation rates and median wages. This shows that black and white men have both been targeted.

The government even projects that from 2004 to 2014 black men’s labor participation rate will go down:

http://www.bls.gov/emp/emplab05.htm

They are factoring in the effect of legal immigration and amnesty and the failure to enforce existing laws. Black progress on wages stopped by the 1970’s, a few years after Martin Luther King died. Kennedy’s 1965 Immigration Act was the Kill Martin Luther King’s dream act. Kennedy killed black wage progress and actually lowered black male labor participation rates to push up his own stock portfolio.

Black male labor participation rates were 83.7 for males 20 and over in 1965. For white men it was 83.9. By 2005, it was 70.2 for black men and 74.0 for white men 20 and over. For all black men, 16 and over it fell from 79.6 in 1965 to 66.1 in 2005. For white men aged 16 and over it fell from 80.8 to 74.0.

Comment on: Comments: Immigration Overhaul Is Closer to Senate Floor – washingtonpost.com on 5/17/2007 1:34 PM

Black median wage data underestimates the negative impact of immigration on blacks because black labor force participation rates have failed to converge to white levels. Not only that, black male (age 20 and over) labor participation rates fell from 83.7 in 1965, the same as white males (age 20 and over) at 83.9 to 70.2 in Dec 2005, while white males fell to 74.0 percent.

Search TABLE B–40.— Civilian labor force participation rate, this requires Excel to open and didn’t provide a URL to link to so easily.

Black male labor force participation (16 and over) is projected to fall from 66.7 to 64.7

http://www.bls.gov/emp/emplab05.htm

In 1965, total black male and female employment (16 and over) was higher than white, 62.9 to 58.4. By 2005, that had switched, black was 63.5 while white was 66.4. Thus from the time Martin Luther King was alive to after he died, the 1965 Immigration Act made blacks worse off in labor participation rate terms.

Black median wages stopped going up because they stopped converging to whites and all men stopped at the 1973 levels. But in addition, black labor participation rates were hurt, especially men’s.  So were those of white men. Black and white female participation rates both went up, but having male participation rates go down is harmful. What jobs do men do? Construction. Farm work. These are jobs being taken by immigrants, legal and illegal. So we find that the jobs men don’t want to do, according to Bush and Kennedy are the jobs that white and black men used to do, but don’t do now. Instead they are unemployed.

Comment on: Comments: Immigration Overhaul Is Closer to Senate Floor – washingtonpost.com on 5/17/2007 1:14 PM

Black median wage data:

http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/income/histinc/p53b.html

Black men is 26,667 in 2005 Dollars. Black women is 22,366. For all men and all women see graph page 18 below:

http://www.census.gov/prod/2006pubs/p60-231.pdf

All men median wage was 41,386 in 2005 dollars. For women the median wage was 31,858 in 2005 dollars. The progress of black wages towards white slowed down in the 1970’s after the effect of the 1965 Immigration Act. Most convergence in black to white wages happened before the 1964 Civil Rights Act during the Great Compression. The 1965 Immigration Act was the Stop Martin Luther King’s Dream Act. King didn’t see a promised land where median wages of blacks and whites, men and women were forever below the 1973 median wages of all men. But that is what legal immigration and illegal immigration and the 1986 amnesty have done.

A paper on the Great Compression in wages before the 1965 Immigration Act:

http://www.nber.org/papers/W3817

Harold Meyerson on the Great Compression at WaPo

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/29/AR2006082901042.html

Following are quotes from WaPo itself:

“From 1947 through 1973, American productivity rose by a whopping 104 percent, and median family income rose by the very same 104 percent.”

“Since 1973 productivity gains have outpaced median family income by 3 to 1.”

“In ways more difficult to quantify, the mass prosperity fostered a generosity of spirit: The civil rights revolution and the Marshall Plan both emanated from an America in which most people were imbued with a sense of economic security.”

But in fact, this was the end of wage progress for blacks. Their convergence to whites slowed, and by stopping all men’s median wages at the 1973 level, the peg black wages were headed to stopped as well. Thus black wages were stopped in 2 ways. Meyerson is saying the era of good feelings was in the past and is over and doesn’t exist now. This is because of legal and illegal immigration which have taken away economic security.
